hi
Anyone know about immunisation for baby?
I have been following the australian schedule since my baby born there, however his 12 months immunisation is due last week, but in singapore they have different schedule, any idea whether it's alright to follow? as the main different that Australia offer chicken pox immunisation at 18mths, where singapore does offer anytime after 12mths
OR is it alright to wait until my return to australia which mean his 12mths immunisation is 1,5months delay
any opinion ...thx
*missing my Melbourne home*

My son is older (4) but recently I took him to the doctor for his booster shots (we are following the UK schedule). I asked if that was ok and the doctor said doing that was fine but to also consider a hepatitis jab (ie not essential but to think about).

Hi Matthewmom
I followed the Australian schedule myself. I contacted the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (acir) and asked for an Immunisation update registry form to be sent to me. Basically thats the only accepted method to update the register. Previously, you can update the history by providing details yourself but now the form must be signed by a local GP. Not sure which part of Australia you are from but in Victoria, you have that Child Health check book,so if you are from Vic, just get your GP to sign that and stamp it with the clinic details.
Here is the email address
[email protected] to contact them.
Hope this helps.

sorry, didn't see your signature, you are from Melbourne. So just get the GP to sign the blue book.

Before you decide I'd suggest you start looking at the upper arms of the locals, young and old.

Immunisation scars usually occurs from BCG or smallpox but those are not on the Australian schedule. Wouldn't matter.

In Malaysia, the shots with scarring are usually done inside of the arm for girls, you can request that.

At IMC (Int'l Medical Clinic - Camden) they do the BCG on the upper buttock - I'm sure you could request that at any clinic.

To update you all... now the form is not accepted, the immunisation history form must be completed by an Australian GP. I have spoken with ACIR and basically now they are saying, get the overseas GP to complete the blue book and ask your Australia GP to complete the form. They accepted my form but the SG GP made a mistake with a 'date' and is causing problems.
Also becareful with the brand of the immunisation, some of them are not accepted. It is really annoying as they don't state which brand is accepted or not in their website etc....
