Nicotine gum/lozenges in Singapore...

Postby ChrisCowps » Tue, 30 Mar 2010 12:30 am

Hello All,

I am about to come to Singapore for a 6 month secondment (which will probably turn into much longer..!) and was wondering if I can get Nicotine lozenges or gum at pharmacies in Sinagpore.

If I can what are the prices..?? (In the UK I can get 96 lozenges for 20SGD or 210 pieces of gum for aroung 40SGD)

I would bring enough with me but I dont know how the airport officials would react to me bringing in such a quantity...especially the gum.

Any advice is appreciated.!!

Thanks Mr Eagle..!!

How would they feel about me bringing it in with me...??

Although this might be the time to give them up (not smoked for 5 years but still on the lozenges/gum..!!)

I doubt anything would be said unless your are bringing suitcases full. It is not a prescription item here, although it must be pharmacist dispensed.

With this amount better have a letter from your doctor saying that you need it. Chewing gum is not exactly welcomed in Singapore and it may attract attention of the customs.

Well... maybe so... and I've walked thru customs with 50 DVD's, 20 large bottles... vitamins, ibuprofen, right guard aerosol, tobacco bong from Vietnam... and countless other items that I wondered if they would trigger the X ray machine... and an inspection... and nada... zero... zilch....

And... if the OP were to be stopped, he would only have to say he has quit smoking... didn't know if he could get in Singapore... 6 boxes doesn't look like a smuggling offense.

And... a doctor's prescription is not required... either here or the US... so to get a doctor's letter might actually look suspicious.

As a matter of fact me too, but 1200+ chewing gums sounds a lot too me.
