Having had yet another nightmare trying to get a taxi after an evening out at Dempsey Hill
I wondered - why is there no taxi stand there? Maybe there's an obvious reason.... Even after calling one last night it didn't show up and I spent another age getting another.
Only been here since August '09 by the way.

next time get the restaurant to call the taxi company for you. They usually have a pre-recorded address that most drivers know how to get to. Saves you the time and phone call $ trying to get a taxiout.
I tend to let restaurants/bars arrange a taxi if it's not along a well known road or if there are no taxi ranks/stands.

I had the restaurant called the taxi for me last time. You can let them do it while you are settling your bill. It worked fine.

And if you don't want to call It is pretty close to the main road, 5 mins by foot or so, but there is one danger: you have this wine garden or something on the way to Holland Rd and in 50% of situation we end up over there.

Thanks - I'll get the restaurant to call next time. On another Dempsey night a while back I did walk down to Holland Road but stood for half an hour without success! Like the idea of a wine-stop on the way though
