Growth prospects for IT Contractor population in Singapore?

I’m interested to understand peoples' views of the underlying reasons for the lack of an active IT freelance / contract market servicing the financial/banking sector in Singapore, as compared to locations such as London and Sydney. I notice Robert Walters have recently set-up a team in Singapore specialising in this area, so perhaps the tide is turning?

What are your views on how this might develop over the next one to two years?
