Salary expectations regional drug regulatory affairs role

Post by uncleaar » Tue, 16 Mar 2010 7:00 pm

Hi guys,
on the evers o popular topic of salaries, here is a question from me to you with hope for advice. I am a Manager in International Reguatory Affairs working for a larger pharmaceutical company in Europe and have the possibility to join a regional office in Singapore. The role is not limited to Singapore; the position as a regional manager covers the Asia Pacific Region. I had a look at different salary reports, including the Kelly Services one but also a few others. The salaries quoted cover quite a range.

Anyone here work in a similar role and be able to give me some hint on what to expect in terms of salary?
Anyone with comparable backgorund willing to share?
thanks guys, very much appreciated

I think its $5000 for starting out, $8000 for the very experienced. Is it a global pharma or a generic firm?

I think your field is quite specialised and different from what "koalabear" thought it is.

A friend of mine is a shareholder (I think 10%) for an australian company that deals with regulatory compliance for pharmaceutical industry. From what I hear, there is a growing demand in Asia and the pay can be pretty good (he got 7-figure bonus last year, so go figure!). Of course, he work extremely long hours, traveling almost every week/alternate week, and have to handle multiple projects at the same time because there are few people with the relevant background & experience.

Again, it boils down on whether you are working in a smaller or bigger firm. I understand that he is with a smaller privately held company, so most of the terms are non-standards (which explained the bonus).

If you provide more information and your experiences, I can try to get more information from my friend.

Thanks guys,
your input is greatly appreciated.
It is a larger MNC pharma company (>30,000 people globally), not generics with a regional office in Singapore taking care of the Asia-Pacific region. I have been in clinical research/regulatory affairs for about 10 years in different roles, moving from clinical research to regulatory affairs. More recently dealing with registrations of products in Europe but also rest of world (apart from US).

Only thing I managed to get is, in Genentech, the package is more than USD$300K (inclusive of bonus, which is dependent on profits). Hope this is helpful!

Genentech belongs to roche, but $300k should be the salary for RA affairs director. Is the op going to be the regional manager for RA affairs when you move to Singapore as well?

Hello Mr / Ms ''Uncleaar'',

May I ask you a few of questions, please? Did you eventually move to Singapore for this role? If so, maybe the Regulatory Affairs department you are working in has some vacant positions? I am sorry to be so direct! However, I would really appreciate your concern!
My educational background is in biochemistry and management and I have experience working in laboratories and in logistics. More recently, I have decided that I would like to pursue a career in regulatory affairs.

Could you maybe give me a recommendation about required qualifications for Regulatory Affairs/Quality Control jobs just to get my foot into the door? What do you think about the online Certificate Programme? Would it be useful to complete one of those? Please, contact me at: [email protected]. Can't send private messages yet.

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,
Maria
