But i am truly interested in checking out the singapore zoo - surely there are like minded people out there who are also interested? Anyone?

fyi, you can get tickets for the zoo, night safari and jurong bird park at discounted rates. you just need to buy tickets to 2 or all 3 of the parks. you can use them in a month's time.

personally, i found the bird park the most colorful and liveliest.

Thanks Nakatago, but would someone like me with a bit of a bias against birds enjoy the bird park?

All I know is that you can't stand bird carcasses. You're not gonna go around waving a pole, smashing mesh fences, shouting "Let my people go!" now are you? Some of the enclosures are open enough such that you can get up close with the birds. In some, the birds will get up close with you. Want pics? I can PM you links for both bird park and the zoo. No pictures during the night safari though--too dark.

I love all animals great and small and respect them but i don't fancy getting up close and personal with birds... :(

So I guess lories voluntarily landing on your arm and raptors flying inches above your head won't be fun...

Yes, they get that close. Not all the birds, though. Just those in the aviaries and shows.
