Renouncing singapore citizenship
Renouncing singapore citizenship
hey guys. i joined this forum just to enquire a few things. i am currently at the age of 17.4 years old and am a citizen of singapore. however, i am also a citizen of malaysia since birth as my mom is a singaporean and my father is malaysian. i was born in singapore but left singapore at the age of 2. I have not studied in singapore my whole life and only returned every year for occasional visits using my malaysian passport. my singapore passport has expired many years back and has not been renewed but i did make a singapore IC because i received a letter to do so. i want to renounce my singaporean citizenship as i have decided to become a malaysian. however i am told that it is not possilbe to renounce my citizenship unless i serve ns. is there anyway to do this? i am currently studying and pursuing a degree so deferment of ns is not granted. i want to do something so i can return to singapore in the future without being classsified as a ns defaulter. any help? thanks

Have you read some of the other thread in this forum? Your type of case has been discussed several times and it would be easier for you to just use the search engine instead of us regurgitating the same information over again. Once you have finished, if you still have any unanswered questions please post them. Basically, if you have not filed intent to renounce before you were 11 years old, you have a problem.

It's already there thanks to kraikk's excellent compilation a while back. It's a sticky at the top of this forum. Problem is, people continue to want to create a New thread about themselves and this continues to fragment the information all over the place.
