Colour Change

Post by heeky » Tue, 09 Mar 2010 4:10 pm

Does anyone notice that there is quite a number of green fields in Singapore change their colour from green to brown? What is happening? Is it because of change of season or is it the weather?

Think it might have something to do with the slight lack of rain over the last 6 weeks?!

Joking apart, I came back last Thursday after 2 weeks overseas and the first thing I notice was just how brown the ground is!

Could it be one of the effects of the El Niño phenomenon?

The month of February has the least amount of rain since they started keeping records 100 years ago. The earth is dried out. And yes it's because of the El Niño effect. The water levels in the reservoirs are way down as well.

Woke up today and could hardly see anything outside the window due to the curtain of rain.

I've heard that it'll remain hotter than usual until June, so we can't expect the heat to let us off the hook any time soon...
