Renounced Singapore Citizenship,No NS, applying for Work Permit

Post by tsn » Mon, 08 Mar 2010 1:33 pm

Hi Guys,

Here is my situation.

Left Singapore when I was 6, renounced my Singapore Citizenship when I was 21 and have not done NS. About to receive a crude oil trading job from a supermajor (Shell, BP, Exxon Mobil etc) in Singapore. Is it highly likely that the Singapore government will deny me a work permit? Thanks for your answers in advance.

MS

I renounced my Singaporean citizenship many many many years ago, and it was accepted by the government. I have never applied for an EP (employment pass?).

MS,

Sorry for the confusion.

I received my exit permit when I was 18 (late I know), I think my parents applied for it earlier though. Only went back to Singapore after I renounced. I used to have a S'porean passport, needed it to leave the country but never renewed it after I left. The Singapore passport expired when I was 10-11 yrs old. Never applied for S'porean IC either. It has been almost 10 years since I renounced my S'porean citizenship.

MS,

I have one other question. Also received an internship offer from another oil company in Singapore. Will it be difficult for someone in my situation to obtain a Working Holiday Permit or Training Employment Pass? Thanks for your help.
