There are some who have no choice but to work for a living.
They are not all neglected by their kids.
Yah case in point is my father in law. He has a full pension for working his career in the civil service, but now in his 70's he is working long hours 6 days a week for a private law firm.
He has no need to, but he says he would be bored with nothing to do.

Yes sir or we will die trying...
If the law sticks, guys won't need to be fearful of getting their girlfriends banged up.

But.....(sputter), but......(sputter), they the girls would have to start carrying 35Kg packs, mortar tubes, machines guns, etc. part of the time. And believe me, there is nothing more dangerous than a woman with a rifle and mad at somebody shooting at 'em. Hmmmmm. Let's have the Singaporean males and females swap places. It would seem they're temperament may be better suited that way. One thing about it, the neighbours wouldn't dare try anything.
EV-D. Shame the guys don't do that now. We wouldn't be having all these problems in the first place. Now, talk yourself outta that one!

Well my friend, i have 2 kids already (duty done) would want some more, just that my Indo wife got it twice in both her fallopian tubes, which had to be removed.
On the other hand, I feel that the world is over populated already, and mother Earth cannot take it for much longer... notice the crazy weather happening worldwide?

Flood in Orchard ah? Dat... that is because they have concreted everything over and hadn't spec'd big enough drains for the run-off. What are the politicians going to blame, the convenient catch-all of 'climate change' or their own personal failings? Hmmm.... let's guess.
Do you remember, it wasn't that long ago that a good amount of the stretch from Orchard to Somerset (southside) was open grassland. Ion sits on what was the large park, where all the maids met up on Sundays.
Floods in Aus, and Pak, yep but I'd suggest these kinds of things happen somewhere every year, and always have.

Yep, i remember the maids.... i mean the grassland, but i remembered that it was not flat and street level, and that there was a knoll (small hill), and even the heaviest rain, would not cause any flooding...

So they leveled it off, dug an even bigger hole in the ground and build the ION and now Orchard Road floods. My wife figures one of these day, Singapore is going to pull an Atlantis an sink into the sea under the weight of all the concrete overtop of all the giant wormholes in the ground (mrt and other tunnels). She might have a point.

@sms: Where will you be when that happens (sinking Atlantis)? Fishing near your farm?

I also spent about 5 months in JH as well, from 1 Sept 1947 to around the end of Feb of '48. It's the main reason I'm still here today....
