Montecarlo, you don't speak for the majority of Singapore. I'm a Singaporean and have no qualms about foreigners in our country. I don't really see what your problem is. The foreigners taking away "your job"? If you were that capable you would succeed anyway, and how can they take away a job that wasn't yours to begin with? Personally I quite enjoy the contrast of the different races in Singapore, we are all people of the same planet and we travel and live and experience. There is a lot to learn from people who are not of our culture and you know what? They probably want to learn from you too.

How would you feel if you immigrated to say, America, and all the Americans were racist against you and tried to shoo you out of their country, accusing you of all sorts of things?

I'm a Singaporean and I second this. Foreigners add diversity and make Singapore a more interesting place to live in. They also contribute back to our society.

I misread the title of the thread and thought it was a report of a Singaporean actually opening up a door themselves and then closing it instead of having a foreigner opening it and then they run through before the ang mo could walk through.

I'm Singaporean and i don't mind having foreigners here but some of them can really use some manners. Some foreigners who come here, think they are so great and are rude to locals here...makes me just wana go up and punch some of them!

You are after all living in another country, don't you think you should learn more about the culture and the way of life here and be more appreciative and tolerant?

All i can say is if you don't like it here and have so many complaints about Singapore, go back to your country. Nobody is forcing you to stay here.

Meow81, did you have some unpleasant incidents with any foreigners? Most of the foreigners I know are actually pleasant and they contribute back to society ,sometimes more than we Singaporeans do. The only arrogant ones I've met are on this forum. And that too, its just one or two. (And you have just met one.) Most of the rest are actually very diplomatic and eloquent.

Nope i did not meet with any unpleasant incidents with foreigners. My caucasian friends are really nice Just that I have seen some foreigners being rude to other locals thats all. Wait...i take my word back, does meeting that sundaymorningstaple guy count as an unpleasant encounter?? Haha i would think so. I thought this forum is free for people to give their 2 cents worth. Guess i was wrong. Our government needs to only open doors to foreigners that are actually more well mannered not just on how much they can contribute to the economy.
