Not scary, just frustrated, embittered, disappointed, lost. Vast majority of Singaporeans are nice people (nicer in average than the Westerners) and everybody may have long bad days/weeks/months behind. Problems with understanding a bit broader economical or social perspective is also not really limited to Singapore.
