Suggestions for trip to Bangkok?

Post by cait » Thu, 04 Mar 2010 1:58 pm

My mother (in her 70's) is coming to Singapore for a visit this month and I was thinking about taking her to Bangkok for a few days.

Can anyone recommend any nice hotels/ areas to stay/ things to do/ shopping centres? She has mentioned she would like to get some Jim Thomson silks and the Thai silver platters etc you see at the expat markets.

I would love any suggestions to help cut my research time.

Thanks so much for your help.

@cait: Try looking at the Somerset Lake Point Serviced Apartment over at Sukhumvit Soi 16. I've stayed there several times and it's a nice place which is within walking distance to the skytrain (above ground train system) and the MRT stations (underground train). If you don't want to walk, you can get on the official tuk-tuk of the serviced apartment and be driven to the drop-off point which is near the train stations.
