Hmmm... Ok, that long nose hair stuff made sense. I will not judge nose pickers anymore. Thank you for enlightening me, JR8.
But the hairy bum thing... I could have done without that image in my head swirling around like Reo Speedwagon in his "I Can't fight This Feeling" mtv.
And now THAT song is in my head... BUMmer... (pun intended)

Does he also urinate and defecate in public?
So i thought, yeah, there aren't any rules about it, are there?
Are not? So what is this small topic about?

I meant actually that there are no laws about it. I was thinking in local nous - no laws, no fine, no say cannot do. Laws apply to defecating or urinating in public - they can get fined for that.x9200 wrote:painkillerPink wrote:I once asked a guy - i really did since he was a friend - why he does that in public and he replied that "it was a normal body function, so why not? Anyways, you are right - there are social rules about public etiquette but there are cultural divisions - spelled right I hope

My friend certainly wasn't aware there was anything wrong with public nose picking and he was surprised (shocked really) when I mentioned to him that it's not usually done.

I appreciate your concern though I'm not worried about being judged. If somebody doesn't bother to know me from what I say and do but would rather judge by the company I keep or how I look then I wouldn't really care for their opinion. Their loss, you seeJR8 wrote:painkillerPink wrote: My friend certainly wasn't aware there was anything wrong with public nose picking and he was surprised (shocked really) when I mentioned to him that it's not usually done.[/color]
Be careful. It is common to judge a person upon their friends.

After over 10 years in Singapore I've learned to tolerate a lot of things. People will never live up up to my personal standards or expectations but that doesn't mean they're wrong or bad or that they cannot be my friends. They're just different. Living and dealing with this is the price I pay for living outside my country.
So this topic about things I hate in Singapore, for me it's all about sharing gripes, not revolutionizing. It feels good to know that I do not really have very high standards. I'm just a foreigner living in Singapore

'Course you do... otherwise you won't be reading this

And since you don't seem to like me spreading the love you can check out my earlier post on this topic. Though in the past month I've been flat-hunting two from the list crops up again and again
a) taxi drivers - they still ask the passenger where exactly the place is. Singapore is so small! How can they not know where Bukit Timah road is??
b) real estate agents - they just want the easy buck but do not want to do the leg work. Guy confirmed for me to view a master bedroom with mixed gender flatmates and no owner. But when we got there it turned out to be a common room with a male owner and the agent said he's sorry it turned out that way - he's never seen the place himself! Definition of 'waste of time'.

Anyways, you are right - there are social rules about public etiquette but there are cultural divisions - spelled right I hope- that makes it applicable only to certain societies, unlike laws of a country where if you are in that country you have to follow the law.
