although a bountiful budget overall, but the tragedy is captured in the image below.. look at the 2 headings in red.
If india has to move, those 2 have to reverse..

You're right, however considering we all know how the govt spends the allocated money, it would be a blessing in disguise even if the amount allocated to healthcare ACTUALLY gets utilised for that purpose.

Taxpayers back home seem to be happy with the new slabs though. Having said that newer services are going to be included under the Service tax net. So an increase in indirect taxation but hopefully not commensurate with the benefit the new slabs will offer.
For those who fight for it, life has a flavor the sheltered will never know.

You mean to say govt. should not have increased any allocation for defence which is mere 4%? I think you are suggesting that the defence outlay be reversed from what it actually is. Is that so? If yes what are your assumptions for saying so?

They could've kept defence spend constant. The 4% increase in defense spend if reallocated to healthcare spend would equate to a whopping 24% increase in healthcare spend. The numbers speak for themselves. And when it comes to healthcare spend we need to ramp up our medical education infra also. We have one of the lowest doctor patient ratios in the world. Anyways am not going to go on about all that we ought to be doing, but you get the idea!
