Hi guys,
First off my apologies for asking a question I am sure has been asked before but I want to be 100% sure I understand all the stuff I have been reading on here (really informative forum by the way thanks for everything I have picked up before even posting).
My wife is being considered for a job in Singapore which we will hear back about after new year but it is looking very positive (managers have signed off on it just gone to HR to confirm they are happy to sponsor etc.). Now if she is offered and accepts the job (which as I understand it the company then has to get her an EP before she can work for them anyway?- although the offer is not 7k looking at the MoM site it would fall in to the P2 section if that makes a difference?) am I right in thinking I will not be able to work defacto and I would need to come in on an LTVP then go to companies once there and try to get one of them to do me a LoC which would then allow me to work for that company off my wife's visa?
In all honesty a large part of moving back over to that side of the world (we were based in Sydney and Thailand for a while) would be for me to take up diving again and I would love to work in the dive industry again. Is this just a pipe dream? I am guessing that there wouldn't be many dive schools that would really want to bother with doing the LoC although as yet have not enquired, just trying to get a feel for things in a country that so far I have only visited for a few days at a time!
Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
John

All of what you said is basically correct except that you would come over on a dependent's pass (DP) associated with your wife's EP.
Doesn't matter that it is a P2 in terms of pass conditions, same as P1, I think.
DP can work with an LOC. You will need to find someone to hire you and probably explain to them how easy it is to hire someone on a DP... no fees, no CPF, etc.

Thanks a lot for your reply Eagle is nice to confirm things are straight in my head, seems a lot more to it than in Oz!
Any idea about the diving thoughts? Or not really heard of anything in that field?

Everybody wants to work as a dive instructor in SE Asia, which is why salaries are a joke -- little more than free room and board in much of Thailand and Malaysia. And since the waters around Sing are murky, all the dive shops ferry their customers out to Malaysia or Indonesia anyway, and there isn't all that much demand for locally based people. Most of the hardcore divers I know in Singapore have day jobs and only dive as a hobby.

That's great, thanks mate. Obviously not what I wanted to hear but is the kind of realistic truth I need.
Much appreciated.
