PR Staying oversea

Post by monday » Mon, 22 Feb 2010 12:22 pm

Hi there
How long a Singapore PR can stay overseas? I remember somewhere I did read that PR can stay 1 year out any reason and 5 years if his/her working for their company which has branch in overseas.
I just need to know exact information; I tried to find in ICA website I would find. Can any give me the link.

You will not find it "exactly" as the MOM & ICA play their cards close to their collective chests. They take each case on it's own merits so that noone can abuse the system as so many have done in the past. I've never seen it in print.

They may let you stay for several years if working for a Singapore company here and then sent you to an overseas posting for a couple of years, or they might not, depending on your tax returns. They keep the options for themselves and just let it be know that you have to provide the last three years tax returns upon renewal of your Re-entry Permit.

See item 7 regarding documents to be submitted. Without 3 years Tax Assessments and CPF contributons for at least the last 12 months and a letter from your current employer not less than 30 days old. It's gonna be iffy.
