Angel Investors
is there any Angel investors here in Singapore?what is their requirements before they invest.
There are a lot of angel investors here. Typically you will need to look at their websites. Normally each angel will have a specific focus on what they invest in. An ex-banker would focus on finance/trading companies as that is where they have the contact base to add value and grow the investment they have made in your company
BANSEA (Business Angel Network South East Asia) would be a good starting point for you. Check out their website http://www.bansea.org/
Just checked their website and they have a conference coming up in the first week of March, maybe you should get along to that...or even just crash the morning tea

I believe there are Angel investors everywhere, accept maybe North Korea. I mea an Angel investor is just basically an individual with money who is one of the first investors in a start-up company.
Of course the requirements for an Angel investor investing in a startup company vary alot. I mean if he/she is your relative or good friend you might not require very much. Normally though you will need an investment proposal, a detailed business plan, good experience in the relative field and a proven money making business model. From my experience, it is very hard to get money from Angel investors for an innovative new idea which has not been proven to work, most like something which has been a proven money maker.

Re: angel investors
What do you mean "tax breaks"? Nobody pays capital gains tax. Everyone pays income tax on a wide variety of income producing sources.flebowitz wrote:Do angel investors get tax breaks in singapre

I just told you the answer. If you invest by way of capital shares and those shares appreciate you are not subject to capital gains tax.flebowitz wrote:thank you. I mean, is investing in a new venture somehow tax deductible.
If you invest by providing loans, the interest received on those loans is taxable.
If you invest by supply capital in exchange for a future stream of profits, those profits are taxable.
So, and angel investor would most likely buy 50 percent or more of the shares for an agreed upon amount of investment money. If the company flies and the stock value increases, the investor sells, takes a profit without paying any capital gains tax.

And, why should a new venture be any more 'tax deductible' than any other investment. The risk in an investment is gauged by its returns... and you may well expect that an angel investor is going to expect a high rate of return from a new venture.flebowitz wrote:thank you.
