Open Source Shopping carts

Post by ksl » Wed, 10 Feb 2010 12:01 pm

There are many open source shopping carts on the market, does anyone have any idea of which is the most flexible, rather than easy.

I have been playing around with Zen for a few days, I'm not a coder, so a few errors are imminent, I have managed to correct my errors and feel confident i can crack the coding in php and html over the next week.

I used to have sound basic programming knowledge and analysing skills, though it is well over 20 years ago since I was involved in coding.

Any recommendation of shopping cart to use and why?

I was going to recommend X-cart, but I see they are charging for licences now! It was a few years ago that I last looked at it.

The main reasons were it was well supported, and had modules to link into most of the online payment gateways, thus you could have an operationally ready site up faster!

I'll be interested to hear what you choose!

5 years ago, today and 5 years from now. Do you see any significant changes in your life? Are you still doing the same thing working in your company? Think again. ACT NOW before you get stuck in life's RAT RACE.

you may want to take a look at Virtuemart (an add on to joomla)
easy, flexible and free.

you may need a nice template though as the "out of the box" one is rather ugly!
