Current SAIS parents with kids in K1 and K2

Post by newtosin » Tue, 09 Feb 2010 9:04 am

Hi,

My girls will be starting K1 & K2 after Chinese New Year at SAIS. Are there anyone with kids there? Just want to prepare my girls before they start.

Thanks.

Tanusa - I did read some of your other posting on SAIS. They were helpful. I am currently looking for a permanent place to stay. So many places but I am hoping to be around the school. Any thoughts on that?

Hi. I've met several families that live near the school. I have to say, I'm often wondering why we didn't choose to do that too, when I'm sitting in the car watching them walk to school! There are a few high-rise condo buildings on Lorong Chuan very close. There are also some cluster home options on Dunsfold, which is right by the school too. I looked in the area and saw some landed houses in our price range. There are lots of options. In addition to the families from SAIS, you'll find there are many families in the area with children at the Australian school too. The plus side is that you'll be near the school, which is obviously a nice thing during the week. I'm at the school a lot during the day. Often, you'll find that parents linger to talk and sometimes end up at the cafeteria for coffee. Some parents join their kids for lunch too. The food is pretty good! If you decide to join the FPTA, there are often meetings, and every month there is a parent informational coffee, where they have guest speakers. Lots of opportunities to be at the school, so being close would be nice. I'm not completely familiar with the area, but my friend who lives there says in terms of restaurants, etc., you'll probably find yourself going closer to town. Novena, Newton, Orchard, etc. is only 10 to 15 minutes drive from the neighborhood, so it would be quick when you wanted to do that. Good luck with your search. We are still in a Serviced Apartment and will be moving to our apartment this weekend. I can't wait! I'm looking forward to settling in and making Singapore feel like home.

Take care!

Tanusa,

Thanks again for your input. Appreciate it. We are hoping to find something nearer to school and have been looking within a 10 mins drive. Also in Service Apartment currently but cannot wait to settle into a permanent home.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Thanks again.
