We are Australians living in England. We lived in Singapore for 4 years, but moved to the UK in November 2008. This was a big mistake as we were under the impression that the medical care here would be better than in Singapore. We were so wrong!
We are relocating back to Singapore in April or May this year. We have a little boy who will be turning 6 and he has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a terminal and degenerative muscle-wasting disease. He isn't in a wheelchair yet, nor do we expect him to be in the next 2 years. However, he has to avoid steps as this causes his muscles to deteriorate even more rapidly.
We are after a school for him that is level access and with minimal/no steps. He is not mentally disabled. He is a bright little boy who loves to learn and he currently attends a mainstream school here in England. We refuse to put him into a "special" school as we believe in total inclusion and intergration with his peers. Does anyone know of any International School that could possibly accommodate his needs?
