i'm on the ground floor of Bauhinia and i get mosquitoes coming in all the time when the windows are open. I have a beautiful view but I can't really enjoy it. I've had my place for 6 years now and the mosquitoes are my only major complaint.... and no deck chairs on the weekends if you get up too late!mizza wrote:I am planning to move soon with my husband and 2 children (4 weeks and 20 months) and am looking at a 4bedroom place at Maplewoods. Does anyone know how log the shuttle bus takes to get to Newton MRT in the morning? My husband needs to commute to Raffles Quay. Do you like living there? Are there truly lots of mosquitoes near the pool? Is it good for children? Are there any other pros and cons you can think of?
Thanks!

We've never lived in here on the ground floor so I must say this is also quite surprising to me. In our previous place (7th floor) we could see a single mosquito once every 2-3 years. Now is much more often, every couple of weeks (5th floor). I guess location can still be a major factor. Maple Woods has a lot of vegetation, its pretty gloomy in its front part and the whole Bt Timah area seems to be kind of more "wet". I was told once by a cab driver that 20-30yrs ago nobody wanted to live there because it was frequently flooded. Never verified this information but perhaps SMS can confirm or denyEADG wrote:isn't this the case in most condos?
I know it is in mine

CCK, but again, not a grand floor. Perhaps 3 mosquitoes within 7years. At least 3 windows open 24/7 and a very efficient mosquito attracting device at home - my wife. Yes, it is Singapore, it is almost equator but you may notice not everything goes actually as one could expect - have you notice any bugs smashed against cars windshields?kimora wrote:i live in a house now with garden in Bukit Timah, no matter how much we try, there is always a pesky mosquito or two ...it's Singapore!!! where do you go that is 100% mosquito free in Singapore ? i'd like to know.
