No your spouse will not go to jail neither will you. You will problems on the visa for your spouse for longer period of stay is what I can think of if there are issues[/quote]

ok thats nice to KNOW! So they will give me problems if my spouse cannot find work in Singapore even though I have the financial means of supporting her. Is that right?

If you marry your spouse outside of Singapore it doesn't matter if she never worked in Singapore on a Work Permit. However, if she EVER worked in Singapore on a WP she needs to get permission from MOM to marry. EOS! If you marry her after she has completed her contract (even if it was finished years ago) and you marry her in another country, she will not be allowed to stay in Singapore. Even if you have kids. That is, unfortunately, one of the more poorly thought out problems here. (That is also the exact scenario my nephew is in. His wife had finished her contract. He went to the 'peens and they got married there. Had a baby and the Singapore Government will not let her return to Singapore because they did not follow protocol. Singapore is rough on those who do not read the fine print in their Work Permit applications. Or those who think it's a joke. They all learn the hard way and it's the children who suffer.

Mad Scientist wrote:I cannot answer this but from my brother experience as he married a foreigner outside SG and he being a Sger, he can only get a three month short stay visa after a year for his wife was given a six month visa after that, I think is the dependant visa. All their kids were born overseas. Only after 5 years was his wife given a PR.
I see. Was his wife employed when she got the PR?
