quickest visa run?

Post by MBalen » Wed, 03 Feb 2010 1:32 pm

Hi! I am a US Cit. My visa is coming up on three months. I need to jump out and jump back in; preferably within several hours. What is the quickest cheap way to do this?

Thanks!
Michael

Bus to JB for shopping. Or ferry to Batam for golf. Bus cheaper... no VOA.

for johor bahru/jb

you can take the sbs170 at kranji mrt. mall's connected to the malaysian immigration so you can just take the 170 back again. marsiling's also an option but i've been told kranji has more frequent trips than marsiling. you can verify with your favorite search engine.

Not sure if you meet the conditions, but here's the link anyway

As you've been doing visa runs for last year, doing the JB run might not be a wise idea. There's a good chance you will only get a 7 day stamp or even less!

If you have already been here one year, you could at some point, get hammered and not be renewed. Trips to Bangkok might look more like tourist travel, a trip to JB and back might look like a visa run, and you might only get 3 days upon return. Hard to say.

I got pulled up in Nov coming back from Bangkok. So be careful. Towards the end of my 90 days in Oct I went up to KL and back the next day for a wedding dinner. The officer considered it a visa run. Despite a week later going to Vietnam for a week. Then to Bangkok for a week the following month. He considered I had used my share of visa free days as I had not returned to my own country after being in Singapore for more than 90 days, though never in one stretch.

You would be better off going away for several days. The visa run might not hurt you now, but the next time you try to get back in it could count against you.

Just advice from my own experience. Your luck will differ! :)
