Senior Recruitment Consultant Opportunities

Post by lisadg » Mon, 01 Feb 2010 10:03 am

Hi there,

I am new to this forum, and it seems that you are all pretty helpful, so apologies if this topic has been broached previously.

I am a Singaporean citizen, born in Singapore but I've lived most of my life in New Zealand as my parents emigrated here in the early 1990's. I lived in Singapore for most of my childhood and went to the Singapore American School as my father was an American expat working in Singapore for 25 years. I often return to Singapore to visit family and am now in a position where I am seriously considering moving to Singapore with my husband.

I have a series of questions related to living and working in Singapore and although I'm not 'technically' an expat I am not considered to be local either!

I work in the recruitment industry, and am currently working for an executive search agency, I'm ideally seeking in-house roles, or recruitment roles at a similar level to where I currently operate, what would be a realistic salary expectation when speaking to potential employers?

Are there any reccomendations or newtworking groups that I can look into for people involved in the recruitment industry in Singapore?

What is the tax structure like for a citizen/non-citizen?

Are there 'packages' on offer for relocation?

My husband is in the print industry, does anyone have any experience in that industry and how is it looking after the recession in Singapore? - is he eligable to work in Singapore?

What would an approx household budget be for a 30 something married couple with no children (bearing in mind we do like a social life!!)

We love Singapore and I think I'm in a unique situation of being able to work in Singapore, any help or info anyone could provide would be very helpful, thanks for your time!

You've got a lot of questions and most of them you should be able to answer yourself with a little help from Google. But a few pointers...

Recruitment is a cutthroat business in Singapore. What do you bring to the table that locals don't have?

Start with LinkedIn.

Google.

Highly unlikely.

You should be able to get a dependent's visa, possibly even permanent residence.

Search.
Vaguely heretical thoughts on travel technology at Gyrovague
