I like the fact that there are locals here. It can be entertaining (especially when they start slanging the expats who come right back at them), but generally I find their contribution to the discussion useful and it helps give a better idea as to how the locals think / feel about things. Its all about learning how other people think.

Of course but you, at least, score a 10....... in spelling. I don't make a judgment about anything else

I havent read all the other posts but i would have thought that even with the express purpose being to target expats that that would not preclude locals from participating as expats live in the country where the locals are supposd to have local knowledge. But of course if the perception is that there are more locals than expats participating in the forum then it would be something else that the forum owners and operators may want to look into themselves.

satisfy my curiosity, does the match ever go the other way around? 'expats' always win?

I thought when you said the other way around that the expats always win (no wonder it didn't make sense after carteki's post...in that case, no. I mean with SMS here, who can beat 400+ years experience?
Those that are creative enough and can put up a fight don't drop by here.

bah. never mind. things might be as you say, that those who fulfill the qualities of being born and bred hereabouts AND capable of winning internets arguments do not loiter in this forum.
i think they loiter in forums meant for Singapore expats elsewhere in the world. (that is, Singapore expats: singaporeans living abroad)
the island feels depressingly empty
