Both!
It's a bit like the guy that recently asked: Is mandarin getting popular?
http://forum.singaporeexpats.com/ftopic67011.html
It's such a crazy question ~ Why're there so many locals here? Sheesh! Well, first off~ because they live here. Second of all, how can you tell who is who on an on-line forum anyway? Third, how do you define local? There's a lot of shades of grey there. Fourth, oh I give up...
It's a silly question, at least the way it is phrased ~ maybe try again and put a little more muscle in it?

Yes, he was an advertiser, soliciting for tuition business. We are pretty adept at spotting them although in his case he wasn't even very creative about it. You don't tell people what your game is by using it in your nick!
You can also spot the local easily by looking for sms/texting language here (not even talking about singlish). Usually it's a local. Go to the Plastic Surgery thread in the Beauty forum or the Airline threads in the Careers Forum to see what I am talking about. Got lot's, nah, make that almost 100% locals in there. Except for Plavt that is. He's just a dirty old man who happens to like stewardesses!
Aside from the cryptic texting/singlish which real English speakers have a problem with we do enjoy having locals on here as well for their different and valuable imput as well.

Taboo? THIS site? I don't think so! Nah they've just got lots of attitude. If you hang around here long enough it could happen to you! Don't say I didn't warn you!
