manders wrote:Hello,
I just moved to Singapore about three months ago and have been suffering from severe acid reflux, constipation, IBS, Bloating, anxiety and depression.
My job has been stressfull and I am also recovering from a surgery I had in April on my foot.
I was an athlete and my body has changed so that brings anxiety, espcially being around other performers, but I also have diet problems.
I cannot eat the singaporean food and the heat and humidity is very hard for me to transition to. I feel very uncomfortable and lost.
Does anybody know what to do about the acid reflux, and ibs?
And as for the rest of it, what would be good? a therapist or psychiatrist, and if so where do i go?
thanks so much
a psychiatrist will probably not be the best person to treat your acid reflux, IBS and anxiety. you would need to see a GP (and tell him/her you have some anxiety and stress issues also) and work with him/her...
if over time nothing helps, he/she will refer you to a psychiatrist (which would likely only treat your mind).
you need to reach out, make friends, or at least try to get active, if you don't want to see doctors...
there is no cure for IBS, and no real "cure" for heartburn. whatever you get will work some times, and if you're lucky, most times, but not all the time.
mentally (including your anxiety), you might just need some sedatives and/or mild anti-depressants to tide you over. but first step is to see a doctor for a diagnosis.
if food is the problem, you should figure out out how to find ingredients for meals you are used to eating. this forum is a good start.
humidity is something you'll have to battle with help of an air-conditioner (and smart planning when it comes to transportation).
i have no advice for you about your feet except to let the same doctor have a look at it and make sure it's on the mend (hey, you've paid for the consult!).
good luck and get well soon.
