Employment lawyer - advice

Post by Asdracles » Wed, 27 Jan 2010 12:43 pm

Can anyone suggest me a good lawyer for work issues?

I have some big problems with my contract and would need some expert help. If you have used this kind of services before, your comments will be highly appreciated. Thanks

I have edited the title, as I realized the translation was wrong.

Anyone can suggest me where to go?

What's your budget? Good lawyers don't come cheap in Singapore.

I used to have a lawyer in Lee & Lee, couple of years ago the initial deposit they required was $3,000.

there's a certain law firm here associated with The Birds that is apparently big in this area of practice

use the search tool on this one:
http://www.legal500.com/c/singapore/local-firms

whatever it is, get a quote first before you commit yourself

Difficult to talk about budget when I don't know the usual prices. Luckily I have lived in a world without lawyers up to now :D

I heard before about these Lee & Lee and have a good reputation. Probably I will contact them. Thanks!

Funny thing, that, most people in Singapore have indeed heard about these Lee guys :P

Anyway, high street lawyer shops charge from S$300/hr, and that's for "Associates" who do spelling corrections in contracts. The higher up the totem pole you go, the more it costs...

For L&L it was more than this few years back. Anyway, it all depends on the game and is it worth to play at all. I would be very hesitant if possible gains are below 5k. OP: try to get just an initial opinion and based on this try to decide whether to get engaged in a lawsuit or not. And be careful, some lawyers are trigger happy.
