IT jobs for Undergraduated

Post by Guest » Sat, 23 Oct 2004 9:18 am

So..

How is the acceptance of undergraduated but high-skilled IT workers on Singapore? Is it acceptable?

I've been working for the largest national company in my sector with over 5 million costumers and in the last two years I've been on a managerial position, but I don't have a degree.

Whats the chances? Good, bad?

Singaporean companies generally place a pretty high emphasis on paper qualifications. But a good HR manager will value actual experience more...

agree Singapore companies will value paper qualifications, but MNCs will look at experience. However, even if u get hired, in the long run, u should still get yourself upgraded cos the people u managed would all likely hv tertiery qualifications. It may not be a hindrance for u to get hired based on yr experience if the company is truly looking for the experience, but u may not be able to manage the people effectively. So u need to close that gap for yr own good.

Alot of people I know without tertiary qualifications ALL returns to school after gettting into senior positions. So it has proven my point that it can be a hindrance for further progress in the company.

Singaporean companies? or MoM? They say if u dont have degree or diploma.. chances of getting a work permit is very slim; eventhough u have a good profesional experience to back it up. Hmmm..
