Post by sg_expats » Sun, 03 Jan 2010 2:27 pm

Hi,

I have applied for PR but it got rejected. Could you please advice me , when should I apply again and what other things I need to take care before applying PR to avoid rejection?

If you haven't received the letter of rejection yet, wait for that. It will probably tell you to re-apply in either 6 months or 2 years (at the moment it's usually 2 years). If that's the letter, there is your answer.

However, if the letter doesn't ask you to re-apply in a fixed amount of time, appealing isn't going to do you any good as more than likely, they feel you are not what they are looking for as a PR.

What can you change? Nothing, provided you told them the truth on your original applications. However, if you have additional documentary evidence to provide (documentary mind you!) that IS RELEVANT then by all means appeal. Be sure to have ALL documents (originals) in hand at the time you reapply.

Otherwise? Try Australia or Canada or the UK.

That one's easy.....

It's because too many are abusing "PR". PR, if you weren't aware of it, actually stands for "PERMANENT" Residence. Not a Visa which an unlimited duration so you don't have t leave after some Singaporean takes your job.

Too many people have been taking up PR only for the "visa" non-necessity it provides when they are unemployed. Other's only take it up as a stepping stone to Aus, UK, Canada or the US. The local population has been screaming it's head off because they are taking up space in local schools, buying up Resale HDB flats at inflated prices, thus driving up the housing market, and generally just causing everybody to get aggravated (like me for instance) because as a result of the abuses of PR, those of us who are actually longstayers are having our subsidies cut thanks to the abuse.

That's why.
