it's not as scary as you think.
the majority of singaporeans don't take anti-malarials. dengue incidents are not as wide spread (although it does happens) as many foreigners may think.
these incidents are reported and town councils swing into action by deploying bug killing machines at such "hot spots."
having said that, it never hurts to arm yourself with bug spray. they can be easily bought when you get to singapore.
oh, and travel insurance.
