Chances of Getting an EP or SPASS

Post by londoneronway81 » Tue, 29 Dec 2009 8:09 pm

hi there, i have been offered a job in Singapore but am worried about the approval of my EP or SPASS.

I will be earning SGD6500 pm it is in my contract that this will be increased to 7000 pending performance in first 6 months.

I will also earn commission on an annual SGD1,000,000 sales target at 5% (additional SGD50,000)

I have over 10 years experience in London in similar roles, however i only completed a GNVQ advanced course at college (equivalent to 2 A Levels) my company employs about 90 people in Singapore and hundreds worldwide most are singaporean.

Does anyone have any idea if I have a decent chance of being approved? I really want to take this step and am worried that i might not get approved.

Please can some make me feel better honestly

thanks.

The background is there but the academics or the remuneration isn't quite there. I wouldn't take any odds at all. It's too close and pretty iffy. The $7/K is an arbitrary figure set by MOM. Could it be less? Yes, probably. Could have been set higher. Yes, probably. But like anything else, there has to be a cut-off point. Dong exams, there is a % that below which you fail (even if it's only a single % point below, you still fail. Kinda like being pregnant, either you are or your not. You cannot be almost pregnant. Your working qualifications probably would make you a shoe-in. However, I think your employer may well have to up the ante to 7K basic in order to fly. Hope I'm wrong though.

Sorry not to have the kind of news to lift the spirits, but who knows, maybe your employer is a well placed MNC and has some extra stroke somewhere. But it sounds like it's a local MNC (Singaporean). With the current interpretation of the guidelines we've been seeing since the beginning of September, I'm afraid we really don't have any positive anecdotal evidence to give you.
