SPR child born in Singapore to SPR parents

Post by tremor » Tue, 15 Dec 2009 12:40 pm

:???: Hi Seniors,
Need some of your advise if u have come up or heard abt this policy. Am not sure if this is real or just hearsay. Already sent my feedback to ICA but have not recv'd any reply yet.
For those SPR children born (boy) in singapore once they reached 3yrs of age, a security bond applies. That means parents need to deposit a certain amt of money if they want to return to their own country or once work transferred to other country.

appreciate your feedback and thanks..

Unless things have changed, I think you mis-heard. It's 13 not 3 and you would have to file a security bond of 75K to ensure the child returns for NS duties. Or you have to get him out of Singapore before he's 13 and follow the proper protocol in doing so. Read the various stickies in the "Strictly Speaking" Forum for more information on this. It's been well documented by us in that Forum.
