Salary to live in Singapore?

Post by tonyleung » Mon, 14 Dec 2009 12:52 pm

I have a family of four moving from NYC to Singapore and need to know how much salary I need to live comfortably in a 3 BR flat (not necessarily near CBD) with two children (grades 1 and 4) in international / private school.

Can anyone provide some numbers?

Do a search of the forum, there tons of information here on the costs of living here. Without knowing your actual lifestyle it would be hard to hazard a guess, but there are numerous estimates already here. Use the search function located just below the "Profile" link at the upper right side of this page.

After you have digested that, if you have more specific questions, post them and we may be able to pinpoint specific information for you.

I did a lot of research and stayed in Singapore for one before my relocation to compare the costs of living. If u are from Northamrica & Western Europe, if u wants to keep the same living level as at home, you need get around 20% more paid than your salary in your hometown. The main costs are rental and cars. They are at least doubled than in Western. All the other western food or clothing, entertainment etc has almost the same price as at home.
cheers for life!
