Arts in Singapore

Postby mizo5 » Thu, 10 Dec 2009 11:39 am

Just thought it might be nice to set up a thread to exchange info about art galleries, and exhibitions' reviews here.

I'm actually interested in exhibitions of Mexican art and Filipino art, for instance. If anyone's been to, it'd be nice to hear how it was and such..

Also, there will be an art exhibition openings for local pop artists in Eunos tomorrow night. anyone interested in going? :)

cheers

i don't think i'm being too helpful here but there was a Pinoy art exhibition sometime last month at Artspace@Helutrans, this gallery at Keppel Road. It was housed alongside Russell Wong's work as well. Google them up, perhaps you can join their mailing list or something.

There's Mexican and Filipino art exhibited at the Singapore Art Museum, think both exhibits end by end of this month. I've been meaning to check them out myself, prob on a Fri evening where entry is free from 6-9pm?

There was some open house design exhibition in shophouses at the start of Dec, sadly missed that too:(

@adibahhhhhh
Thanks for the infos.
I looked up the Artspace@Helutrans on the net, looks like a warehouse with auction stuffs, but collections looked good (well if it was for Christies no questions asked I suppose)

@greydalg
SAM, I always wanted to go.
I'd have gone tonight if I knew about the free entrance tonight.. ;(
If you ended up going, how was it?
I heard some people saying that Mexican art exhibition wasn't that impressive, but I don't think I'll just let the chance to see some Frida Kahlo pass by.

As for the opening for the shows of Pop art in Eunos, they were both good. But I'd say the works at Art Seasons were quite striking.
