Insurance for Domestic Helpers

Post by dazzlebabe » Wed, 09 Dec 2009 4:35 pm

A mate (not a regular on this board) has asked for my help to post this question.

They are off to the US for vacation and the domestic helper is with them throughout the entire trip. Anyone knows the best travel insurance policy to buy for the helper? Are they usually covered in the Family Coverage?

Actually, what is completely amazing is that they were able to get a visa to bring their helper to the US at all.

Domestic Helper Visas are easier to obtain than tourist Visa. All they needed were her WP and the employers bank account with $xxx,xxx in there! Money talks!

When I travel to the US I buy travelers insurance through HSBC. It is quite full coverage (especially on accident & emergency) and is relatively inexpensive.

hi new here. first post.

some ar*e wipin. Since you mention HSBC. I am with HSBC. so lemme know if anyone needs quick help on anything related. Just PM me.

@TS.
Maids are not covered under family insurance. They may however be covered separately on a single trip basis for travel. I do hope you have maid insurance that covers medical expenses in Singapore. Which comes in handy if any treatment is sought after returning home.
