Whats Simei like to live in?

Post by shodge » Fri, 04 Dec 2009 3:25 pm

We are moving to Singapore and a friend has reommended Simei as a good location. Can anyone tell me what its like to live there? Any good condo blocks? Are there many Aussie, English, European expats there? would it be good for young families? How long is the journey into City Hall Area?

HI There,
I used to live in Simei. It's a nice little cosy estate and if you live close to the central, there is a shopping mall (EastPoint Shopping) where you can get all the things you need, food, banking, groceries etc.
Ride to City Hall is abt 20mins, with waiting time, add another 5 mins.
Private Apartments there include: Modena, Tropical Spring, these 2 are the closest to the MRT and mall, like 1-2mins walk. Others like Simei Green and Eastpoint Green are bit further away, like 10-15mins walk. I suggest you choose the 2 closer ones cos walking in the heat and humidity is unbearable at times. =)
As for Aussies, English, Europeans etc, there will be some in the apartments, but not as many compared to the city areas like Tanglin Mall and Great World City areas.
All The Best!

Hi mate, Simei's an excellent wee area to live in, there's plenty of condos to choose from, Melville Park & Eastpoint Green spring to mind but there are newer ones. There are quite a few little parks, a big shopping mall with loads of cafes and a nice little pet safari (great for the kids). The MRT is a short walk from anyplace in Simei. Massive exhibition centre right down the road, you can pick up great deals on clothes, cars, plan a wedding etc. Regarding expats in Simei, my neighbour is Scottish ;)
