Advice needed for Nursing Jobs in Singapore

Post by nurse11 » Wed, 02 Dec 2009 3:53 pm

Hi,
I have recently moved to Singapore as my husbands job was relocated here. I am Irish trained nurse with a Bachelors in Nursing and 5 years experience including 2 years as a Nurse Manager/Clinic Co-ordinator.

I am looking for a bit of advice please?!!!

I have emailed several hospitals with my CV and only one has come back to me stating they will be in touch and that was nearly 3 weeks ago. I am starting to get really bored now!! I have been in touch with the Singapore nursing board and haven't found them that helpful either.

I am just wondering what my next step should be. I am really only interested in working office hours (only recently married and want to actually see my husband from time to time :D )

Any advice would be greatly appreciated or if anyone has any suggestions of clinics i could approach!!

Cheers

Heard in yesterday's news that the new hospital is hiring now. Have you tried? The news here: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/ ... 39/1/.html

Thats great Irvine. Thanks very much.

have applied online about 12 jobs so far and no-one seems to be getting back to me!

Alot of them are advertised as Singaporean and Singapore PR only!

You may also wish to consider private nursing, the rates look attractive.

http://www.singaporehomenursing.com/About-Us.html Maybe they pay more than the general hospitals

Yeah I had considered Private nursing but I would prefer to be working with people rather than just one client.

My last job I wasn't working with many other nurses and it was kind of lonely.

I'm not really too worried about the money just want to find something where I can do office hours and be happy doing it!!

Maybe I am being too picky?!!

Just make sure they understand that you are DP (you are, correct?) and that hiring you is easy, legal, and cheaper than a citizen or PR. A lot of employers don't know this.

such a gig is almost impossible to find.

you may not find nursing as fulfilling a career here than back home, nor would it pay very well.

board registration is another nightmare. phew! but do keep us posted on your job hunt!

Expat nursing in Singapore

Post by Nurse L » Sun, 13 Mar 2011 5:51 pm

Hello nurse11 and all that have been on this thread. I am an Australian trained nurse and worked in the UK for the last 10 years, the last 3 as a CNS. Can you let me know how you got on, if you did, with work in Singapore. My husband and I are considering moving with his work but I would like to have more info on my work situation before I say yes!

Many thanks
