Bali & Langkawi

Post by ironlady » Tue, 01 Dec 2009 9:41 pm

HIii all does anyone have suggestions where to stay in Bali and areas to shop ? I dont want to bring kids to the places where the bombings happened.

As for Langkawi, can you recommend a very romantic resort to stay ?

Thanks!

Well, if you're going to Bali with the kids, then I would go to Kuta Beach, walk around Legian and seminyak to shop, and if you want good food, go to Jl. Oberoi.

For the best beaches, which aren't too crowded, go to the South of Bali, near Nusa Dua, and in most of those secluded beaches, you can get cheap accomodation, which I would recommend, especially if it's only for a day or two, very much worth it.

In other areas of Bali, if you want a more cultural experience, go to Ubud and see the monkey forest (Just hold on to your food). Also, go to Uluwatu. If you want to go diving or snorkelling, go to the North of Bali, like Lovina or the North-West.

If I were you, I would stay away from Denpasar, it's cramped and dirty, only go there if you want to go shopping for cheap clothes, phones, and DVDs.

Cheers

with kids around, i would recommend your family to stay either at tuban for mid-range accomodation, else would be legian/seminyak or nusa dua/tj benoa for more upscale range

so many options! u can choose :
- febri's tuban just a short stroll both to waterbom park and discovery mall, plenty of other resorts there as well
- mercure kuta (right next to hard rock bali) being right in the middle of actions
- legian - pullman (had their soft launch last month)! looked good from the outside
- plenty of villa options along seminyak beach, also boutique resorts like the breezes, alam kulkul etc
- nusa dua/tj benoa is down south with plenty of good resorts and hotels

avoid staying at double six and legian street as these areas are filled with pubs/clubs

shopping, aplenty at :
- clothes/beachwear/souvenir: legian st
- tees/souvenir: jln pantai kuta
- for arts/souvenir: ubud (cheapest!!)

don't really know your budget range, and please check out tripadvisor's reviews - very very reliable

finally, ku de ta.sun.set.viewing.is.a.must. though of late been getting thumbs down for services

for langkawi, it would be datai and andaman
