Spray tans and eye lash extensions

Post by SJM » Tue, 24 Nov 2009 7:32 pm

I am moving out to Singapore at the start of march.
I do spray tans here in England and eye lash extensions...
Would this be something I could bring over to Singapore?
Are there places to get this done over there?

Any information on this i'd really appreciate!
Thank you - :)

fake eyelashes, rebonding of hair, fingernail extensions, all done in every salon in Singapore (literally '00's of 'em). Spray tan? in the Tropics? where the most popular cosmetic fluid is SK-II whitening solution? Nah. Don't think that will play too well here.

Thank you.
I know maybe the locals would prefer whitening solution but a spray tan is the first thing i'd look for beauty wise when i'm out there!
I'm glad they do fake eyelashes, eyelash extensions are a bit different but lashes all the same! Thanks again

Hi SJM,
Actually, there are quite a few of us here who are very interested in spray tans within the expat community. Although the Asian culture are all about skin whitening....there are many of us westerners who have a hard time finding a place to get a spray tan that is done decently. (I have only found one place that does it) And before any of you out there start posting judgmental threads about spray tanning in the tropics, those of us Aussies out there will know that skin cancer in Australia is a huge problem as well as premature aging, so like me, many of us expats will go with the down side of a spray tan any day, than risk the dangers of the sun. So, in answer to your question, I will definitely be a customer of yours :D

I wonder if there would be enough pasty white expats interested in spray tanning to support two shops here? :-k

If you will do a search of this forum using the term 'eyelash extensions' you will get your answers there as well.

The link that you refer to is for a tanning studio, not for spray tanning. There is a difference. Most spray tans can nowadays be done in the privacy of your own home, with a portable spray tan machine, so a shop is not that necessary for "pasty white expats". Which is what I believe SJM is referring to? And yes, there has been many threads in the past in which 'pasty white expats' have been asking where they can get a good spray tan.

How many is enough to support a business though. That's the question. 5 women isn't very many do you think?

hi, eyelash extension is quite popular here in Singapore. You can find it in most beauty salon, hair salon, nail salon & some salon that do eyelash extension as their core business.
As for spray tan, it's not that popular here. But you can still get the service at some beauty salon here. Hope that helps. :)

Thank you Mandym!! yes I was only thinking of doing from home - not to set up an actual "spray tan shop!" Lol. As you said the cancer risks are so much higher with sunbeds and sunbathing, its a good alternative for expats :) I'll have to let you know when I come out!

I'm not sure if sundaymorning is on purpose trying to be patronising but thank you for your comments all the same, its good to see different opinions. As it's clear everyone from different areas have different skin types/colours we don't all want whitening solution and we don't all want spray tans.

It was good to see some feedback on this, thanks everyone.

No I wasn't being patronizing. Go back and reread your original post.

It reads like you were considering coming here and maybe setting up a salon. With that in mind, you would need considerable clientele to make it worthwhile. I did not take it to mean you were looking for a place to have it done. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
