for what its worth, my original post stemmed from my interest in irc a few years back. plus i've been bored shitless at work and decided to set one (unrealircd) up remotely on my linux box at home. my renewed motivation (now gone again) sprouted after reading an article about mibbit (google em if your interested) and their success in using irc.

i had some crazy idea that maybe i could drum up some more traffic to my other site using irc.
