DUIs and Singapore

Post by Bills88 » Tue, 17 Nov 2009 9:53 pm

Hi,

I'm from the UK and have, potentially, landed myself a quite specialised job in Singapore for a big American company. I wondered if anybody had any knowledge of how strict immigration are on DUIs...?

My offence is from 2 years ago and is my only conviction. There were no mitigating circumstances and i have had my license back for 8 months.

It seems that all countries have hugely differing leniancy to this crime and i am a little concerned that Singapore would reject my visa request!

Has anybody got any light to shed on this, it'd be hugely apprecated!

thanks

Don't think it will be a problem. I had one as well but it never came up. That was 27 years ago.

Can you imagine the dangers, I drove into a brick wall in Scotland or it could have been the pilot that was with me, though it was my car, and we was so far gone that we blamed eachother but the police only charged me.
In the end there was no proof who was driving, and the court had to drop it! 1979 and i have never done it since, it really does hit home.
