Teacher recommends Psychological Educational Assessment

Hi there,

we had a meeting with our kids teacher and he recommends a psy. edu. Assessment.

Englisch is not our mother tongue and when I reached home after the meeting I was quite surprised what I found on information about this in my language. It says, when the student is below average they do this assessment.

The teacher didn't mention with a single word that our child is below standard.

May I missinterpret anything.

I would appreciate some thoughts about this.

Please make this important distinction: some of your child's work might be below the expected level, it is not your child which is sub-standard.

An assessment will help root out any learning differences which can be blocking his/her progress.

Did the school suggest any doctors who can do the assessment? Maybe someone in their office can translate for you so you have al the information?

Yes, the teacher gave a contact person in school who could recommend doctors/institutions.

But the meeting was just yesterday late afternoon.

And you are right, I have to have in mind, that some of my childs' work maybe below average..... thanks for reminding me
