WHP and Proof of Return

I have been approved for a WHP and one of the documents I need to provide is proof of my return. Just wondering, from those hwo have also got a WHP, how strict they are about this. Of course I can buy a cheap ticket to KL or something but I don't plan to use it as I'll just take a bus into Malaysia at some point when I leave (not exactly sure where yet) - seems like a waste of money to buy something I won't use though I am assuming they are strict about their requirement for such documentation?
