We are moving very suddenly to Singapore and am looking for some schools for my 3.5 year old child for January 2010. I have called around and am hoping to visit in the next 2 weeks but wanted some recommendations and advice on schools.
Have space possibly:
1. Chatsworth
2. Tanglin Trust
3. Whitelodge
4. Raffles Pre-school
Other schools I called but they have a long long waitlist or he's too young are:
1. Eton House
2. UWC
3. Canadian
I will probably have to apply for school for August 2010 but for now I just need to find a good, strong school for reading, math, arts and craft, and having fun!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I can give you my (fairly limited) experience on Tanglin Trust School. My 3.5 year old son started at Tanglin this September and he loves it. The facilities are, in my opinion, brilliant and the children all appear to have loads of fun every day. In regard to the curriculum, at this age the British Early Years Foundation Stage is followed and the school day is fairly short (between 9 and 12 every weekday morning).
I am definitely happy with our decision to send my son there, which we took whilst still in the UK and never having seen Tanglin or any other school in Singapore. I have also found all the other parents I have met to be nice and the school is welcoming to those new to both Tanglin and Singapore.
I hope this is helpful, and if you would like any more info please PM me if you are able.

Hello,
Our son is 4 and he started going to Overseas Family School last year. He is now in K1 and is doing very well. In our experience, the teachers are good with the children, they update us almost everyday through a blue book regarding our child's activities & progress. The teachers are also available via email for correspondence. They also have a lot of enrichment activities which kids can join after class - from music, sports, arts, etc... For K1 students, they have Mandarin classes weekly but just the very basic.
Parent Association is very active too.
Our son has been enjoying his stay at OFS so far.
You can check out their website:

Hope this helps.

Happy school hunting.
Kris

A friend told me that the Canadian School is quite good but couldn't find a lot of info on them. Any comments good or bad on them?

What school did you go with? We are moving in June and looking for a program for our 3.5 year old as well. White Lodge is one of the schools we are considering. Would love to know what you decided and how it has been!

I finally went with the Canadian School as she got a spot there. Another reason was I thought maybe it's better to go to a bigger school as some schools are only till age 5. After that they need to change schools. So I thought Instead of making another change I would try to find a school she can continue at. There is a new campus opening at Lakewood and that will have all the facilities such as pool, large field etc. I'm at the East Coast/ Tanjong Katong campus which does not have a pool but it's got a great small school feel and a very friendly/caring environment. Someone mentioned that CIS rated towards the top, possibly 1 or 2, for IB curriculum. Am trying to verify this. Let me know what you are looking for and I can try to answer those questions as well. Let me know which country you are from as a lots of people choose the Canadian school as they teach French. It's great that my 5 Year old is learning Mandarin since she's been 3.5 yes and last Sept they started learning French from Age 4 +. night
