Renewal of PR

Post by pandian » Sun, 08 Nov 2009 12:24 pm

Dear Friends,

I would relly thankful to you guys if Somebody give me some hints about my issue explained below:

I got my PR on 2005 with my family. And I have some assets in SG as well. Then, I moved to USA mid of 2007 and staying here till now. Now, I am worndering that some rumers flying around that SG Government cancels re-entry permits who is living out of SG when renewal process?

- Would my CPF contribution helps to renew my re-entry permit, If I start the contribution as a self employee?
- Somebody told me that who are having some assets in SG would get renewals without any pain??

I would relly appriciate you friends, Please give me some latest news about it.

Hopefully, your re-entry permit will not be renewed. Normally the only way you can get it reinstated once it as expired (if you are out of the country) is if you happened to be going to school somewhere doing any MBA. Normally ICA will give an allowance for that. Otherwise, if you haven't been contributing to the economy for the last 3 years prior to your renewal, then normally is will not be granted. (And that was before the recession hit). Now, they are tightening up and are going to get rid of all the freeloaders who are collecting PR's in numerous countries. It's the abusers of the system that cause the long-term stayers to lose their subsidies. The sooner we see the backsides of those types of PR's the better the longstayers will be.

Sorry, but that's the way most of us longstayers look at it. Your abuse costs us.

It's PRs like yourself who want to abuse the system purely for their own benefit, that give proper PRs like SMS, myself and many others a bad name.

I really doubt your REP will be renewed so if your SG assets happens to be a HDB flat you will be made to sell it.
