Well then... how about your own ladies? :)
I'm not intended to offend anyone. But I'd rather to add S$1k more and live in aparts if the situation is THAT bad...

i know someone who will rent out his HDB..1 room..and will lock up the other room..this way you can pretty much have your own space...

For mods..am not advertising..im not even sure if the room still there when you come..but you can always find similar things..am sure he isnt the only one doing that...

And how much can cost getting into not a very expensive hotel for a month while I'm still looking for a flat?

From my own experience, yes you should be able to find a studio flat in an older condo somewhere in the heartlands for around 1k a month. Definitely possible.

A simple hotel room is about S$60-80/night, but if you prefer attached bathroom it will more likely be around S$100/night.
(A bed in a backpacker dorm starts at S$20.)

I'm in Singapore! :)
Found 1 + 1 near Kembangan, Bedok.
S$1450/month, but hell with it - at least I'll have privacy.
There was also a studio S$1300, but shitty one.
More expensive than I thought, but acceptable for me. :)

Good on you - but find out whether it is legal to rent out such a place - ask to see the letter of approval from HDB. I was told by my agent that 1+1 can't be legally rented out without approval.

That's only if it is a HDB flat. If it's an old private condo then anybody can rent it who can afford it and find one available. (if it is an old condo, make sure that it's not slated for en bloc redevelopment) Often the owners will do that knowing that the unit will be razed before long, so they rent it out as long as they can. Once the time is up, you're out and the building is pulled down to make room for a new condo. As I've said before (as have more'n a few others here), there is not much protection for renters here.
