TV Producer/Director

Post by tvpappy » Fri, 06 Nov 2009 2:41 am

I recently joined this forum and am impressed with the help and advice that many of the members have given/received.

I feel my career path is a little bit of an anomaly in this forum, but I am hoping someone could offer me some insight.

I am a seasoned television producer/director currently working in Canada. I have been in the industry for 16 years and have been fortunate enough to have received several awards recognizing my work.

I grew up as a Canadian expat in Bahrain and would love to relocate overseas to offer my wife and children a similar cultural experience to mine. (Yes, I understand there is a great difference between the Gulf & Singapore, but I love the idea of my children being immersed in a different culture and mixing with students from many other backgrounds)

I have recently applied for a senior producer/director/writer position at a leading video production company in Singapore. Does anyone know what a decent package would be for a position like this?

I am 40 and married with 3 children (14 yrs, 11yrs, 18mths). What should I expect? I currently earn approx. $90000 (Canadian) before taxes. ANy and all advice is much appreciated.

hi all,

I'm in a similar position to tvpappy above. I hope you can be of assistance. I am currently working for the BBC in London. For over four years I have worked on a broad range of projects, from documentaries to prime time entertainment formats as an Associate Producer, a Researcher and as an Editor. I recently learned of the thriving media industry in Singapore and, as such, I am exploring the possibility of moving there to work.

Could anybody please advise me on the availability of work, typical salary, and working conditions in the TV industry there? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
