Can a EP holder marry a Singaporean?

Post by WY » Thu, 29 Oct 2009 11:39 am

My girl friend and me (Singaporean) intend to get married next year but she hasn't got her PR yet and she is currently holding a Q1 pass. Do we need permission from MOM to get married?

As long as she's never held a WP you don't need to get permission MOM.

Saint is right. I got married to a Singaporean while I was a foreigner. No problem, it is the same process as it would be for two citizens.

One thing to note though

At least 1 of the 2 parties to an intended marriage must have been resident within Singapore for at least 15 days before he or she may file a notice of marriage. This applies to all regardless of citizenship.
Ie. if you both live overseas and just come back to get married one of you needs to stay in Singapore 15 days before the date of the wedding.

Hi,

on about the same case; on my scenario:

If I (university grad here and now a Singapore PR Holder for 6 yrs) intends to marry my girlfriend, who's holding social visit pass and settle down here.
question is upon marriage, will she be able to apply for Dependant pass and apply for work here in Singapore?

Does anyone have experience of similar scenario?
Appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Spouse of a PR holder can apply only for a LTSVP first. while being on LTSVP the holder is not allowed to work.

Only when the LTSVP to PR conversion happens the person is allowed to work.

DP is the term for the Pass for spouse of an EP holder and not for the spouse of a PR
